Alexandria Coe is the London-based artist that grabbed our attention across various corners of the internet with her raw and spontaneous drawings of women. Alexandria draws quickly in order to capture the sensuality of a form rather than the exact image. To draw these abstracted lines may seem like an easy task, but simplicity is the hardest thing to master and those minimalist lines show her knowledge of the female body and its every angle and movement.
Alexandria Coe's got a degree in textile designfrom Chelsea College of Art and a Masters in Fashion Communication from renowned Central Saint Martins. Her illustrations are her way of dealing with women's restrictions with their bodies in a hope to reclaim the pleasures and view of the female body. We for once love this positive and energetic view of women. Plus somehow the drawings are reminiscent of what our mothers did in the 80's, which has to be a good thing.
