Caroline Harrius | Floral Vase | The Ode To

Editions: Unique & handmade
Material: Porcelain with etched pattern
Size: ~29 cm high, 16 cm wide

This is a play with the classic shape and aesthetics of an urn, but with a contemporary touch. It has a stylised floral pattern that is etched into the surface and revealing the light clay underneath. The vase is handmade and it's one of the larger pieces by the artist.

Caroline Harrius graduated from her Masters at Konstfack (University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm in 2020 and has a Bachelor degree from Kunsthøgskolen in Oslo. She's always been drawn to how gender hierarchies in art history have affected the craft field in contemporary society, and how she values the typical female craft in her own way. Hence, she tries to reclaim it in her practice by working with traditional domestic objects like decorative porcelain vases and embroidery, where she tries to re-evaluate these gendered objects in a contemporary context. Read more in Caroline Harrius' artist portrait

Details: It's signed on the bottom by the artist. It's not glazed on the inside and since it has tiny holes for the stitches, it doesn't hold water. Please note that all handmade objects may have charming little imperfections and colour variations.
