By mixing contemporary sophistication with influences of her Japanese heritage, Noe Kuremoto creates extraordinary ceramic art. With soft and minimalistic shapes, this beautiful Iwashi sculpture is timeless yet contemporary.

Iwashi, which means sardine, is inspired by one of Noe Kuremoto's childhood memory during the Japanese Setsubun festival:

"When we were kids, we helped making a door decoration Hiiragi Iwashi, literally ‘holly sardine’ is a cooked sardine head impaled on a holly branch. My mother used to source these fish bones from our local sushi shop. We believe that demons which brings illness does not like the strong smell of sardines and they fear getting their eyes poked by the sharp points on holly leaves."

Details: the sculpture is signed by the artist on the bottom. The white dripping glaze gives the sculpture a unique finish. Please note that this sculpture is not watertight but works perfect with dried flowers
