What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?

– My work has a predominant focus on rituals, natural systems, and eco-feminism. This series arrives from an interest in the scallop shell as a symbol of femininity and fertility. Throughout history, hinged shells, especially scallops, have embodied the feminine principle, externally signifying protection and nurture, while internally resembling the female genitalia.

Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be an artist?

– My path as an artist began with studies in product design, graphic design, and painting at an art school in Lisbon. In Portugal, I delved into product development, collaborating with my co-founded studio OJEAM, where we explored traditional crafts like glass-blowing and ceramics. Pursuing my passion further, I pursued an MFA in Design at Konstfack in Sweden, where my focus shifted towards the fusion of craft, science, and health. Today, my projects aim to address both planetary and social needs through sustainable solutions.

How would you describe your art and aesthetics in three words?

– Experimental, organic, and colorful.
