At The Ode To, we are always eager to uncover the stories behind the captivating artworks we curate. We had the pleasure of meeting Sara Mai, a multifaceted artist based in Copenhagen. With her organic yet geometric approach, Sara's artworks beautifully capture the meeting point between nature and construction, creating a truly unique and captivating aesthetic.

What do you call your series of artworks?
– I call it 'MYCELIUM', because my works make me think about how a living organic organism can take over an object.
What technique have you used?
– I have used a mix of coil and slap-building technique. For this series, I have worked in both red and white stoneware clay.
What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?
– I am inspired by different contexts where the organic and the sharply constructed meet. I see it everywhere when I walk around the city of Copenhagen where architecture and buildings meet nature.
Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be an artist?
– I have a Bachelor's degree from an animation school in Viborg, Denmark. I also have a Master's degree in advertising and have worked in the industry for 8 years.
