What do you call your series of artworks, and why?

– "Self-Confidence". It's probably rooted in the fact that I haven't always dared to express myself exactly as I wanted in all situations. I come from a small town in Dalarna in Sweden, where it can be difficult to stand out. I've always had a fondness for cowboys and everything western-related. That's why I started making the boots, to inspire myself to be a little braver and dare a bit more.

What techniques have you used?

– I have used slab building and coiling technique with stoneware clay to create my cowboy boots. They are hand painted with engobe paint and have a transparent glaze on the outside.

What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?

– It probably started with wanting to create a fun, unique interior detail for my own home. I like when things are visible and take up space. I want to create art that makes people feel, think and form an opinion about. Whether it's positive or negative, it's always fun to evoke reactions. I believe it's the reactions that have driven me and my artistry.

Could you tell us about your background, your education, and how you came to be an artist?

– I have always liked art, color, and form. Working with my hands in various ways has a profound effect on my body that always feels equally satisfying. Since I was little, my mother has inspired and encouraged me to be creative. We have always painted, sewed, played with clay, etc. Two years ago, I started on the ceramics program at Mullsjö Folk High School, and since then, I have had the space to develop, be inspired, and learn about everything related to ceramics and clay. It's fantastic and liberating to work with ceramics every day.

How would you describe your art and aesthetics in three words?

– Romantic, playful, personal.
