At The Ode To we are always curious to learn more about creativity and artistry, so we asked Libi Shkupolli, the artist behind Lib, to tell us a little bit about his art and sources of inspiration.
What do you call your series of artwork?
– ‘No Bisous N-ours’.
What technique and materials have you used?
– I use a variety of mediums in order to sculpt my artworks.
What inspired you to create the artworks you have made for The Ode To?
– I find inspiration in everyday life from the moment I wake up. When I retreat to my studio, my thoughts embark on a journey, and I believe this subconscious reflection of my experiences drives my creativity in my work.
What other artists do you admire?
– I hold great admiration for the artistry of my favorite singers, Negjmije Pagarusha, Cesária Évora and Charles Aznavour. Their music - which is constantly playing in my studio - explores the themes of love, joy, melancholy and cultural heritage, all of which I can relate to.
Can you tell us about your background and how you came to be an artist?
– My main occupation is in social and psychological services and it was only a few years ago that I rediscovered my family´s artistic background. That's when I started experimenting with clay and gradually expanded my exploration to other materials.
How would you describe your art and aesthetics in three words?
– Joyous, colorful and hulking.
